Dear Whitewater Springs Community Members,
I am reaching out with an important and time-sensitive request. I have served on the Whitewater Springs Water Supply Company board since 2019 and as President since 2021. I will be retiring as President effective March 2027. I will remain on the board until the end of my term in March 2029.
We urgently need a committed community member to step up now and begin learning the President role so they are fully prepared to lead by next year.
Important note about the President role:
This position does not require technical expertise in water system regulation or operations. It primarily involves leadership — guiding a capable team of board members who understand the system and working closely with our professional operator, Professional General Management Systems (PGMS).
I will personally provide mentorship before and after I step down as President, and I will continue offering technical and operations support until I leave the board in 2029.
Why this matters to all of us:
Positions on the water board ensure we maintain consistent, community-driven leadership. Keeping our water company locally owned and controlled protects reasonable rates, reliable service, and smart investment in our infrastructure.
If we are unable to find leadership from within our community, we may be forced to sell the company to a for-profit organization. In other communities that have done this, residents have experienced higher water rates, reduced service, and deferred infrastructure improvements.
This is our water system. Its future depends on us. If you care about affordable, reliable water service for our families and neighbors, please consider volunteering.
