Breakthrough in Water Loss + Drought Stage Update

Breakthrough in Water Loss + Drought Stage Update

We’re celebrating a major milestone at Whitewater Springs Water Supply Corporation: our water loss in excess of routine operations and system dynamics is virtually zero!

This is a major milestone for our community and a testament to the hard work and diligence of our team. It has been one of our top goals over the last six years. Our most recent results place us in the top 1% of water loss results for all water systems in Texas. It will be challenging to sustain these results, but now we have the tools and processes to achieve it.

✅ All routine water loss is now fully accounted for:
• Routine flushing
• Chlorine monitoring operations
• Background system loss from normal pressure and flow dynamics

✅ These results were achieved through the following:
• Detailed tracking of water loss data
• Implementation of SCADA improving the speed at which leaks are detected
• Aggressive search for system leaks by our operator PGMS
• Rapid response from our contractors who perform repairs on the system

✅ Since we now have control of our water loss, the reduction in system consumption allows us to reduce our Drought Stage to Stage II. This matches the current Central Texas Groundwater Conservation District (CTGCD) drought stage.

✅ Outdoor water use is now permitted again!

Let’s stay mindful:
• We’re currently using 80–90% of our reduced water permit year-to-date.
• If we exceed 90%, we’ll need to return to Stage III.
• Hitting 100% would trigger Stage IV restrictions.
• If CTGCD increases their drought stage, we must follow suit.

We’re also actively negotiating for the removal of the withdrawal limitation on our permit — I’ll keep you updated as progress unfolds.

This is a huge win for our community. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to responsible water use!

I’d also like to thank those community members who have stepped forward to volunteer for our new committees. I’ll announce more on that front soon.
